XTRAC Laser Treatment
XTRAC is a special, FDA-approved laser device to help treat psoriasis, vitiligo, and atopic dermatitis (eczema) in kids. Since it became available in 2000, it has helped hundreds of thousands of children with these skin conditions. While there is no cure for these issues yet, XTRAC laser treatments can provide new hope for kids dealing with these challenges.
At Happy Skin Pediatric Dermatology, we're thrilled to offer this safe and effective treatment to help improve the skin health and comfort of our young patients.
XTRAC Laser FAQs
We understand that you may have questions about your child's XTRAC laser treatment. In our mission to provide you with convenient access to information, we have compiled a comprehensive list of FAQs we often get from parents. Our goal is to support our patients and families by offering accessible answers and ensuring peace of mind.
No, XTRAC treatments are generally not considered painful by our young patients. Most children find the procedure to be tolerable and do not require any numbing before treatment.
XTRAC harnesses the power of an excimer laser that emits precise light at 308 nm, specifically within the ultraviolet B (UVB) spectrum. This targeted light therapy effectively treats inflammation while keeping the surrounding skin safe, delivering a painless, low-risk treatment known for its impressive, long-lasting results.
Unfortunately, there is not yet a cure for skin conditions like psoriasis, vitiligo, and eczema. That being said, XTRAC laser treatment offers safe and effective relief for patients struggling with the appearance and discomfort of these conditions. XTRAC can help clear plaque for several months, often without the need for additional topical or injectable treatments.
XTRAC laser treatments are often covered by insurance. This is due to several factors:
- XTRAC has been a safe and effective FDA-approved treatment since 2000.
- The American Medical Association (AMA) published specific CPT codes for the laser in 2003.
- The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recognizes XTRAC as a “Standard of Care” in its Psoriasis Treatment Guidelines for Healthcare Professionals
Please note that it is important to talk to your insurance provider about coverage before scheduling an appointment for treatment.
